Oh hello there…

24 Dec

Hi friends. Sorry I have been so MIA lately. I know it’s been a long while since I’ve posted.

Work got crazy, things with the house got crazy, and the newest addition to our family, my sweet nephew, decided to arrive 3 and a half weeks early.

Meet Corban James born December 8th, 2011 at 10:45 pm weighing 6 lbs 8 oz.

Uncle Kevin & Aunt Lauren

Already so in love with this little guy.

He is the perfect addition to our family and is so loved already.

In house news lots of updates going on. Our front door is installed, new gas fireplace, all windows, and siding. All electrical and plumbing is done!! We bought all the tile for the bathrooms this week. The master bath is basically all carerra marble which I am SO excited about. I wanted marble countertops for the kitchen but know they’re not practical so we’re going with granite that closest resembles marble.

We ordered the bathroom vanities and I ordered light fixtures for the front hall entryway, kitchen lights over the island, fixture for above the eat in kitchen table, and the chandelier for the dining room. All the fixtures are from overstock.com, except one is from pottery barn. Here is what I chose.

This little lovely is from pottery barn it is the Dalila Beaded Pendant. It was one of the only fixtures I could find that is small enough to hang right in the entryway by the front door. I love the glam birdcage look of it.

I bought two of these mini chandeliers to go over our island. I wanted to add something pretty to the kitchen without it being over the top. I’m going to spray the brown base with a chrome spray paint to match the chrome kitchen fixtures.

I chose this pendant chandelier to go over our eat in kitchen table. It’s a little more casual but still pretty. I like it’s simplicity so it won’t be competing with the mini chandeliers over the island.

This is the chandelier I purchased for above our dining room table. I love it. It’s a little bit modern with the white iron but still sophisticated with the crystals. I love the mix of modern and traditional this chandelier has. It’s also less stuffy than a traditional crystal chandelier so it will work when we are using the dining room formally and casually.

So I’m going to overload you with photos of stuff for the house because I’ve been slacking on posting. Next up are the bathroom vanities.

Now let me tell you how hard it is to find a decent bathroom vanity at a decent price. Very hard. Everything is SO expensive! Well I’m happy to say I’m proud of the ones I found.

First up this vanity is going in our first floor powder room. It’s from home depot! Who would have guessed. I love the color, it’s fun and different.

All of the door hardware in the house is going to be oil rubbed bronze. The bathrooms and kitchen will all have chrome hardware except the powder room fixtures will also be oil rubbed bronze.

This is our master bathroom vanity. It’s a very dark espresso color with a black granite top. Our marble floor is a basket weave design with little accents of black to pick up the black in the vanity. This one is from overstock.com.

Last but not least this is our double vanity for the upstairs guest/hall bathroom. The shower is going to be white subway tile with a marble and glass accent border. I think the white vanity with the carerra marble top will go perfectly. This one is from Home Design Outlet Center.

Let me know what you think of our choices! I’m so excited to see it all come together! So now you can see somewhat of where the design of the house is going. I have progress photos and I need to take more so next time I will be able to show you those.

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year! See you in 2012!
